Custom Sheet Metal Fabrication
Custom Control Panels for Industrial Equipment
Rapidsheetfab builds control panels and related enclosures for OEMs that need repeatable sheet metal parts in low to moderate volumes. We handle the full sequence from laser cut blanks through formed panels, welded frames, hardware insertion, and finishing coordination.

Typical Control Panel Structures
Most projects involve flat or formed panels with cutouts for displays, switches, and cable glands, plus side walls or doors that require stiffeners and mounting points. We produce single-door cabinets, multi-bay frames, and operator interface housings where the sheet metal work forms the structural core before electrical integration.
Flat & Formed Panels
Cutouts for displays, switches, and cable glands, formed to fit operator interfaces.
Single-Door Cabinets
Doors and side walls with stiffeners and mounting points built in.
Multi-Bay Frames
Welded frames that hold the structural core ahead of electrical integration.
Materials Selected for Panel Duty
We stock and process materials matched to the operating environment of each panel.
Thicknesses run from 1.0 mm up to 3.0 mm for most doors and side panels, with 4–6 mm bases used on larger stands.
Cutting and Forming Operations
- Fiber Lasers Five fiber lasers cut flat patterns, including louvers, ventilation slots, and mounting holes to ±0.10 mm.
- Press Brakes Seven CNC press brakes handle bends up to 3000 mm long.
- Hardware Tapped holes, PEM fasteners, and rivet nuts are added in the same cell, so the panel arrives ready for assembly without secondary drilling.
Welding and Assembly Steps
TIG seams on visible edges, MIG or spot welds on internal brackets, and full welded frames are standard. After welding we perform in-house grinding and brushing to remove spatter and blend edges before parts move to finishing partners for powder coat or anodizing.
-
Step 01
TIG Seams
Applied to visible edges for clean appearance.
-
Step 02
MIG / Spot Welds
Used on internal brackets and full welded frames.
-
Step 03
Grinding & Brushing
In-house spatter removal and edge blending.
-
Step 04
Finishing Partners
Powder coat or anodizing coordinated with trusted partners.
Inspection and Documentation Flow
Every control panel batch receives first-article inspection on our CMM and 2.5D vision system. ISO 9001:2015 procedures cover incoming material checks through final packaging.
- Dimensional reports with each shipment
- Material certificates supplied per batch
- RoHS statements included
Moving from Prototype to Repeat Orders
A single control panel or small NPI run can be completed in 7–12 working days. Once the design is approved, the same tooling and programs support 15–25 day production batches.
This continuity removes the need to requalify a new supplier when volumes increase.
What Information Speeds an RFQ Response
Send DXF or STEP files, material and finish notes, target quantities, and any critical dimensions or cosmetic requirements. We review for forming feasibility and suggest minor adjustments that reduce cost or improve repeatability before quoting.
