Custom Sheet Metal Fabrication
Equipment Shrouds Built for Industrial OEMs
Rapidsheetfab fabricates custom equipment shrouds from sheet metal for industrial OEMs. We handle one-off prototypes through repeat production runs using in-house laser cutting, CNC bending, welding, and hardware insertion.
- Prototype lead time
- 3–12 days
- Production lead time
- 15–25 days
- Sheet capacity
- 2000 × 4000 mm
Typical Shroud Applications
OEMs order shrouds to enclose motors, control panels, conveyors, compressors, and test equipment. These parts require accurate cutouts, formed flanges, weld seams, and mounting points that match the surrounding machine frame.
- Motor enclosures
- Control panel covers
- Conveyor guarding
- Compressor housings
- Test equipment shrouds
- Accurate cutouts and formed flanges
Sheet Metal Processes Used
Each shroud moves through the processes it needs — from base profiles to welded seams and installed hardware.
Laser Cutting
Produces the base profiles and internal openings with clean, repeatable edges.
CNC Press Braking
Forms the sides, tops, and mounting tabs to match the machine frame.
TIG & MIG Welding
Joins seams on stainless and aluminum shrouds.
Spot Welding
Secures brackets where vibration resistance matters.
PEM Insertion
Adds threaded standoffs without secondary tapping.
CNC Punching
Adds ventilation slots and formed louvers in a single hit.
Material Selection for Shrouds
Material choice follows the operating environment, weight targets, and cost drivers of the equipment.
| Material | Best Suited For |
|---|---|
| Stainless SUS304 / SUS316 | Corrosive or wash-down environments |
| Aluminum 5052 / 6061 | Reduced weight on mobile equipment |
| CRS & SGCC | Painted indoor machinery where cost is the main driver |
| Thickness range | Normally 1.5 mm to 4 mm for most equipment covers; cut up to 12 mm when structural stiffness is required |
In-House Capacity
Production equipment and finishing steps are kept in-house so shroud programs stay on schedule from first article to repeat runs.

Quality and Documentation Flow
Every order follows IQC through OQC checkpoints. First article inspection reports and dimensional data accompany shipments. Material certificates and RoHS documentation are available on request.
ISO 9001:2015 registered system
-
IQC — Incoming Quality Control
Incoming material and supplied components are checked before release to production.
-
First Article Inspection
First article inspection reports and dimensional data accompany shipments.
-
OQC — Outgoing Quality Control
Final checks confirm shrouds are ready for line installation.
-
Documentation
Material certificates and RoHS documentation are available on request.
Moving From Prototype to Production
We accept single-piece orders for design validation. Once dimensions stabilize, the same tooling and programs support 50- or 500-piece runs without requoting the process.
Prototype lead time
3–12 days
Regular production quantities
15–25 days
Finishing and Assembly Options
Powder coating, anodizing, passivation, and screen printing are completed through audited partners. We manage the handoff so the finished shrouds arrive ready for line installation, including any gaskets or fasteners supplied as part of the assembly.
- Powder coating
- Anodizing
- Passivation
- Screen printing
- Gaskets and fasteners
- Managed finishing handoff
